The Torch

Leuzinger High School hosted the UCLA Blood Drive Tuesday October 3, 2017. Many students and teachers had already shown up during first period. I asked a few people on their thoughts of this year’s blood drive. Angela Sanchez said, “I feel really great. This year is going to be my first time donating because it’s on my bucket list to save a life.” Sofia Avendano said, “I feel pretty good about it because it’s getting the school more involved and you get to save a life.”
It’s good to see that students are coming out and giving their blood to help save others, also they get rewarded also, it’s a win-win situation. Many people are in need of blood after the very tragic incident that happened in Las Vegas as many people were injured and harmed during a concert. The blood drive is a great way to help others and show students that saving the lives of others is a good feeling to have.
Lastly, Ms. Iveland said, “We’re very excited, we just started out and our chairs are starting to fill up. We have a lot of Olympians that stepped up. We’ve got some teachers here already donating blood and it’s such a good time right now because of the tragedy that just happened in Las Vegas, we know how many people are going to need it, so we’re very happy about our Olympians stepping up to the plate and helping to save lives.”
